WAREHOUSE & GOODS IN/OUT ASSISTANT

Core Job Purpose: Responsible for warehouse and assist with unloading goods from delivery vehicles and for checking that the correct quantity and type of goods have been received and recording any damaged, missing or faulty goods. 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Work with drivers to unload deliveries from suppliers in a safe and efficient manner
  • Inspect for quality and check loads against delivery notes and orders and if correct sign off the delivery form and advise the relevant colleague that the delivery has arrived 
  • Move goods to the correct allocated area of the warehouse, delivery area, or the retail area
  • Make sure all returns have ‘supplier return’ form attached and check with colleagues in the general office if the relevant paperwork is not provided
  • Store items to be returned in such a way as to prevent damage/further damage
  • In between deliveries assist with loading vehicles with customer deliveries so that products are loaded in the appropriate order (for multiple drops), safely and securely
  • Make sure that ‘the goods in area’ and surrounding area is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Safely operate the fork lift truck, electric pallet trucks and other equipment in all area with the main area be that delivery, the warehouse, retail and estate areas
  • Is polite and helpful working with all to include delivery drivers, couriers and customers
  • Carry out stock checks in the warehouse and delivery areas
  • Responsible to help with following health, safety and environmental health procedures in the warehouse , goods in areas and some retail areas
  • Where possible between deliveries assist colleagues to transfer stock to the retail areas
  • Assist with premises upkeep, to include estate work of lawn mowing, hedge trimming and other general horticultural duties
  • Assist with local customer deliveries during busy times and holiday cover
  • Any other duties and responsibilities, which might be reasonably requested from time to time.

Working hours to be 7.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday, working every other weekend with one day off per week ie. 10 day fortnight.

Salary subject to experience and up to £29000 per annum based on a 40 hour week with 21 days holiday plus bank holidays.
